The Case of the Night Before Christmas
On the night before Christmas, when children and their families had gone to sleep after sharing their supper and preparing the house with a plate of cookies, a glass of milk for Father Christmas, and some crunchy carrots for the reindeer, they wondered how the reindeer. would enter their apartments. But they quickly resolved the problem: they fly and wait in front of the window while Santa and the elves enter to leave the presents under the – most often – plastic tree.
There was so much anticipation for the day ahead that this night was the most expected of the entire year. And not only just for children. It was the favourite time for Saci as well.
You see, some people believe Saci only lives in the forests and annoys only the families that live in towns and villages on the forest’s edge. People also swear that there is only one Saci. That is not true. There are many. There are as many Sacis as there are windows open. And because they can move as quickly as the wind, they can be anywhere in a matter of a few seconds.
You may have guessed why they love Christmas Eve as much as you and I. Not because they get Christmas presents as well, but because they can make a mess out of yours.
Our Saci particularly enjoyed messing around with the presents. He has an incredible skill to shake a present and discover what it is. So, that led him to take little baby Bento’s new dummy and swap it with Lady Gertrude’s new denture. Her present was given by her son, Bento’s dad. Saci couldn’t choose if his favourite trick of the night was taking little Isabella’s mechanic set and swapping the tag with her brother’s cooking set and seeing the siblings complain about Santa’s swapping their presents, or if giving little Daniel his dad’s beard oil that his wife has bought for him. His dad got Daniel’s videogame console, making one really confused and in tears, while the other was quite happy. Saci was so sneaky that he once wrapped a toy robot in a box that was to be for socks! Can you imagine the look on the child’s face when they opened it?
His laugh sounded like a mix of jingling bells and whooshing winds, and his mischievous eyes sparkled brighter than the Christmas tree fairy lights. This allowed him to artfully enjoy the mess he created on the morning of December 25th. What he loved the most was when the kids realised the tag swap was his work; they would shout “Saci!” and laugh so hard. When giggles and fun won over grumpy feelings, it made Saci feel special about what he did.
The kids never like the silly surprises at first, but when they realised this was the works of Saci, they would laugh so hard! Saci loved this part the most- when giggles and fun won over grumpy feelings.
It’s true, Saci loves playing tricks, but he also knows that kindness is the best gift of all. He always leaves a piece of fruit for the children and adults in the houses he visits before Christmas.
He knew someone would have put the effort to trick him too. So, when his joyful morning had ended and he could happily and tiredly go home, he entered his tree to find that he got a left foot shoe. We know he doesn’t have his left foot. While his neighbour got the right foot one, the foot he doesn’t have. They laughed together and gently swopped their presents with a tap on their backs, lying on their hammocks and dozing off to a well-deserved rest.
What do you think Saci would do if he visited your house on Christmas Eve? Would you try to catch him in action?
Saci and his friends saw santa coming to town
They say Santa Claus is stealth like a ninja.
